Magic, Spells, and Other Worlds is a concert experience that explores how composers have drawn on folklore, fantasy, and the supernatural to create some of the most vivid and evocative music ever written. Performed by piano duo Andrew Rumsey and Ivan Horvatic, this program traces a journey from enchantment and innocence through darkness, mystery, and transformation.

The evening begins in a realm of light and wonder, with the evocative storytelling of Grieg’s Peer Gynt and the delicate fairytale colours of Ravel’s Mother Goose As the night deepens, shadows emerge — Saint-Saëns’ Danse macabre introduces a playful encounter with the supernatural, before the music descends into the raw, elemental power of Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain.

The journey culminates in Dukas’ The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, a thrilling tale of magic unleashed, that brings the evening to an exhilarating close.
